Systems |
One of the most frequent questions we get from gamblers worldwide
is "Which systems are the best?". In reality the answer
is no system will ever give you an advantage over a game that has
a negative expectation, in other words a game that has a house advantage.
In general you will find that the only people who make any money from
gambling systems is the people who are selling them. If you are considering
buying a gambling system then we suggest taking the money you would
have spent to the casino - you will have the same chance of winning.

| About Gambling Systems |
The biggest problem with gambling systems that we see is players who
put their trust into the systems only to lose time and time again
before they come to the realization that the system does not work.
Most systems use one of two betting strategies - a negative progression
or a positive progression. Below we outline the two and show you why
they can lead to bigger losses than your bankroll can manage.
The most well known negative progression betting system is the Martingale
System. It is a strategy of doubling your bets on every loss until
you win. For example you play roulette and bet on either red or black.
You start betting one unit, if you win you bet one unit again, if
you lose you bet two units. After each loss you continue to double
your bets until you win. In theory this means that you will never
lose if you have an unlimited bankroll and unlimited table limits
- unfortunately none of us do.
The problem with the negative progression system is that firstly even
when you win after a series of losses you are only really winning
back what you have lost. The second and bigger problem is that casino
games can have crazy streaks. If you have ever played roulette for
an extended period of time you are sure to have seen massive runs
where all of the numbers are red or black. This can quickly make your
bets reach the table limit at which point you cannot continue to double
your bets.
The opposite to the negative progression system is the positive progression.
It works the same way except you double your bets when you win. If
you absolutely have to use a betting system then this is probably
the best to go with as you can catch a streak and win big. Unfortunately
there is one major problem with this system in that if you lose when
you have doubled up a few times you lose all of your winnings in one
play.

| Slot Machine Systems |
There has been a marked increase in the number of slots systems for
sale in recent years, particularly online. Quite simply any system
that claims to beat slot machines is a scam. There is no way you as
a player can have any input on the results of the spins or that you
can determine a slot machine will pay out from what is on the reels.
Remember on slots that every spin is random and is not effected by
any previous spins.

| Correct Play and Card Counting |
The best "system" that any casino player can use is correct
play. That is learning how to play your chosen game and not make any
mistakes when playing. For example if you are a blackjack player it
is worthwhile learning correct basic strategy. If you like video poker
learn what cards to hold for any possible deal.
There is one strategy that can turn the game of blackjack into a positive
expectation game - card counting. This is frowned upon at land-based
casinos and will get you banned if caught so you should practice at
home until you can keep the count without giving any signals that
you are doing so. For more information of card counting visit our
Blackjack section or visit our Gambling Books section for related
books.
